Pumpkin Patch
So, since I missed all the Pumpkin Carving and costume dressing last year in the Washington/Nevada transition, I decided to have a little Mom and Ros time at the local pumpkin patch this year. It was 80 degrees outside, and the pumpkins were not actually in a field, however the field was next door. It was still the same idea. There was a corn maze, tractor rides, and a bouncy house. Ros was pretty excited, and said "this is way cooler than last years store bought "WalMart" pumpkins!" Every year in the past we have always taken Ros to a warm, well lit church to "trunk or treat," and celebrate in a Harvest Festival like fashion. Which means, we have also never taken Roslynn Trick Or Treating. We broke down this year. After all, it was not raining and it was warm enough to not need a coat. I have never seen so many homes in one location going all out as I have here. There were some pretty decked out front yards, and garages set up as haunted houses. October 31st is called "Nevada Day" and is state holiday. It's the day Nevada became a state. All government offices and schools close...and the kids go door to door and get candy. Not sure if we will trick or treat next year or not, but it was fun this time around. I wonder if the Christmas decorations will be as extravagant as Halloween?
September 2008 Reno Hot Air Balloon races
One of Reno's many anual events is a Hot Air Balloon Race in early September. Being our first year in the area, we of course decided to checked it out. It kicks off in the morning with a glow show prior to sunrise, then a specialized team are allowed to lift off as the sun is rising. Apparently, it's quite dangerous with the atmospheric pressure changes as the sun rises. We were not planning on getting up early enough to walk 1/2 a mile in the dark, but Roslynn begged, (and it was her birthday weekend) so we obliged. She didn't even complain when we got her up at 4 a.m. I wish she popped out of bed that easily every morning. After the glow show and the sun is fully up, the jets fly overhead, and once the traditional eagle balloon has lift off, the rest of the balloons are free to go. It's quite beautiful seeing over 100 balloons in the air. The festivities were fun, complete with pajama, and bed head contests, and local vendors.
Happy 8th Birthday Roslynn
Roslynn decided to have a pink pirate birthday party this year. Her softball team name was the Pirates, so I'm pretty sure that's where she conjured up the idea. The weather was perfect for a fun filled day at a new park by our house.

Spring Break 2008
Here are some pictures of our trip this week to Disneyland. We spent 4 wonderful nights at Disneys Paradise Pier. We took the opportunity to go to two character breakfasts...Lilo and Stitch and Goofy's Kitchen for some fun one on one time with the characters. Also, compliments of Costco, we had a fabulous dinner at Disney's Grand Californian Storytellers Cafe. We went to both Disneyland and California Adventure. Roslynn's favorite rides were Tower of Terror, which she made me ride 3 times, California Screamin (big roller coaster), and Space Mountain. She's definately a ride thrill seeker. As soon as she is 54 inches we will take her to Knott's Berry Farm and Magic Mountain. She's only 50 1/2 inches now. So probably another couple of years.... Enjoy the pictures.

On the move...again...
We are moving agin...we can hardly believe it either. Roslynn is 7 and this will be the 5th house she has lived in. We thought we were going to be in Port Orchard for a couple more years, but JCPenney had other plans. Wendy was offered to manage the Reno Nevada store and was wisked away the same week. We will be much closer to Shawn's family and in a warmer sunnier climate (which will not be bad at all). After exploring the Reno area, we think we are going to like it. Roslynn will no longer attend private school, and will be going to Brown Elementary School. That shoud be an adventure. She has a hard time understanding they will not be praying before meals, and will not be learning bible stories. We close on our new hose on January 10th and our furnishings will be delivered on January 14th. Hopefully we can get some pictures uploaded shortly after moving in.
